Barón de Chirel first appeared in 1986 as an experiment in vinifying grapes produced by very old (80-110 yr-old) vines. With low yields and high quality, this wine is only produced in a limited amount in the best vintages. Fermentation takes place in small Allier-oak vats before the wine is aged for 18-24 months in French oak. It is bottled and aged for a further two years in cellar prior to release. A delicious aromatic wine brimming with toasted spicy oak and dark-berried fruit. Complex and elegant with a long, balanced finish.
